A homage to the city in the form of an architecture monument that will act as caretaker for symbolic new public functions, renewed spaces and rediscovered relationships. The project submitted for the competition for the new Palace of Justice in Catania is a building that encapsulates the dynamic tension of the land it stands on, its relationship with the sea and the force of the volcano, the symbol of the city.
Magma offers citizens renewed public spaces and a new perspective on the landscape, contributing to the development and urban renewal of the entire area. A large square for the use of the townspeople, consisting of a route with alternating slopes, leads to a roof garden overlooking the waterfront.
The building is totally permeable, optimised in terms of thermal and energy efficiency, with a photovoltaic system and geothermal pumps to ensure the best possible use of resources. A Building Management system of the latest generation guarantees efficient control of the entire complex, from accesses to air conditioning, from sanitisation to consumption.
