The Grand Hotel Majestic, built during the 70s, is in contrast with the typically nineteenth-century buildings that surround it. The Hotel is close to two important buildings: the Central Station designed by the architect Giovanni Michelucci and the Church of Santa Maria Novella.Starting from this contrast and in line with the Municipality’s indications it was decided to characterize the new façade reinterpreting one of the main architectural elements of the Florentine architecture: the “bugnato”.On the current façade have been applied some mirrors that reflect some vistas of the adjacent buildings.Glass curtain walls reminds to the “bugnato” with a diamond-tipped design supported by a main metal frame and a secondary spider anchoring system. Different structures create movement and allow us to see the existing façade delineating a imaginary connection between past and present, between Renaissance and contemporary architecture.
