Cavour 82 | Florence

In Florence, a few steps from the Giardino dei Semplici, the second oldest botanical garden in the world, a small apartment of 65 square metres has been redesigned to create a cosy, functional residence. Every detail has been tailored to make the most of the limited room, without sacrificing personality or style. The project is characterised by natural materials like wood and stone; touches of colour lend warmth to the rooms while glazed elements amplify the spaces.

The building renovation project included demolition of a portion of the existing ceiling, so obtaining a double volume: the ground floor contains the living area and a bedroom, and on the second floor there is a second bedroom with private bathroom and Turkish bath. The entrance welcomes you into an open space that houses the living area: the compact peninsula kitchen by Arclinea, in a new green colour, defines the space together with the Zeppelin chandelier by Flos.

From the living room you access the master bedroom: a room made contemporary by the ultramarine blue wall in which the flush door disappears. At the foot of the Victoriano bed by Lema, a custom designed bathtub supported by a burnished metal structure is clad internally and externally in Carrara marble. Marble is also used for the surfaces of the bathroom which communicates with the bedroom through a full height glass door.

From the living area a wall staircase gives access to the second bedroom which is divided from the living area by a glass wall, screened by a full-height curtain. The sage green chosen for the back wall of the room evokes the creativity of the headboard of the Grace bed by Novamobili, to which two Kelvin Led floor lamps by Flos have been combined. In addition to a private bathroom, the room is equipped with an Effegibi Turkish bath, covered in Bisazza tiles in shades of green. Both bathrooms are clad in large format Carrara marble tiles, with black faucets to highlight the contrasts and contemporary style of the apartment. The floors of all the rooms are in wide slatted parquet in dark oak essence.
