Pierattelli Architectures signs the project for the recovery of the Caserma Curtatone in Pisa.

The recovery project is part of the San Martino district, in the historic center of Pisa. The complex of the Curtatone and Montanara barracks, the oldest in the military district, is made up of buildings dating back to various periods and arranged in an irregular way compared to the pre-existing ones. The project developed by Pierattelli Architectures, over several years of design, carries out a recovery intervention in the old part and proposes new architectural additions, for the purpose of creating a social housing, a residential complex that performs the function of general interest.

The architectural recovery and integration intervention for the Caserma Curtatone transforms the area into a new meeting place and crossroads for the city of Pisa. A careful project of revaluation of the external areas transforms the heart of the property into a public park full of vegetation characterized by pedestrian and vehicular paths. The buildings that make up the complex interact with each other in shapes and colors, characterized by a palette of warm and soft tones.

The new building, developed on four levels, will house a total of nineteen residential units, divided into five types of various sizes and partly equipped with large openings. The large terraces constitute in the linear and clean façade, a characterizing element in which greenery has been inserted.
